Mike Voigts, Youth Pastor

Mike Voigts has been a pastor in the United Methodist Church since 1993. He's been married to Sheryl for 20 years (20 amazing years, actually). They have two incredible kids and a neurotic, black and white cockapoo. Mike has a M.Div. and D.Min. from Asbury Seminary and a Ph.D. from Brunel University/London School of Theology in England. His hobbies include photography, writing, the worlds of J.R.R. Tolkien, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs.

Youth Leadership Team

The Youth Leadership Team is made up of parents, youth, and counselors. The main task of the YLT is to make sure that SLUMY ministries stay on task of being "a Spirit-led movement empowering youth to transform the world into Christ's image."

The YLT meets twice a month.

SLUMY Counselors

SLUMY Counselors are volunteers who genuinely care about the spiritual lives of teenagers. Each of them is a little crazy in his or her own unique way, but the bottom line is that they sincerely care about what's going on in the lives of our youth.

SLUMY Counselors lead the SLUMY Life Groups, smaller groups of youth that meet weekly for support, learning, and fellowship.

SLUMY Counselors may be young professionals or college and seminary students, but when they're here, their focus is on our youth. Counselors attend SLUMY retreats, day-trips, Sunday Night MPCT worship, and plan our once-a-month Game Night.

Rusty Price                      Russ has been a SLUMY counselor since before "SLUMY" was in all caps. He's laid-back, easy to talk to, and always ready to have a great time. Just don't get him mad!

Greg Williams

Greg works at the University of Kentucky where he does geeky computer stuff. I guess you could say Greg is the unofficial SLUMY technical director. He's been working with SLUMY for many years. If you're ever at Aldersgate Camp, be sure to ask the staff for some good Greg stories.

Jesse Pinkston
Jesse brings a lot of energy to SLUMY. He was active in SLUMY as a youth and now serves the youth group with his love for Christ, his leadership gifts, and his contagious laugh. 



             
JB Blanton
JB is, arguably, the most unique of our SLUMY counselors. That's a good thing! JB has a contagious Christian witness and is usually the life of the party. BTW, it's no accident that JB is pictured in the back seat of the car in this picture!


Becca Simpson
Becca grew up at St. Luke. She's currently a Freshman at Georgetown College. What makes Becca special is her love for people, her sweet smile, and the really mean look she gives you with her eyes (it's a compliment to get such a look from Becca!).




Amanda Draughn
Amanda graduated from high school in 2009 and is a student at Centre College in Danville. Amanda thrived as a youth in SLUMY and desires that every youth in SLUMY has the same experience she had. Amanda is fun, caring, and is a remarkable leader.



Julie Duff

Julie is a recent graduate of the University of Kentucky. She's been a member of St. Luke most of her life. Currently, Julie is on the mission field, doing street ministry with youth in London, England. We miss her!
